Terms

Short version: you buy a licence to use our software; we try hard to make it good; neither of us gets to be unreasonable.

Who's who

"We" are Lightscape Creative, Philadelphia ([email protected]). "You" are the person or organisation using our software or this site. Purchases outside the Mac App Store are sold through our payment partner as merchant of record — they're the seller of record for tax; the licence is from us.

Your licence

When you buy one of our apps you get a licence for one person — you — on up to two machines you use yourself (a desktop and a laptop, say). For a one-time tool, the licence is for that major version, with free updates within it; a new major version may be a new purchase, and we'll say so plainly. For LockMark Pro, the licence runs one year from purchase and renews unless you cancel; it stops when it lapses. Organisations buy one licence per person who uses it.

You may not resell, share, or sublicense a licence; copy the software except for backup; or reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the methods, models, weights or formats inside our software — those are our trade secrets, and we'd like to keep making tools. Licence keys are personal; a key found circulating is cancelled.

What we promise, and don't

We promise the software does what its page says, that we'll fix real bugs, and that we'll answer email. Beyond that it's provided as is: we don't promise it fits every purpose, never fails, or catches every leak. Don't rely on any single tool for anything where failure would be a catastrophe without a second check — that's true of ours and everyone's.

Our total liability to you for anything arising from the software or this site is what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Some places don't allow these limits; there, they apply as far as the law allows.

Refunds

Fourteen days, no reason needed — see /refunds.

Annex and custom work

Annex rooms and custom deployments are governed by the agreement for that engagement. Where there is none, these terms apply, and the room's owner is responsible for who they read in.

The site

You can read it. Don't scrape it to train things or impersonate it. Links out are links out.

Changes and law

We may update these terms; the date below moves and significant changes get a line on the home page. These terms are governed by the law of Pennsylvania, and disputes go to the courts there. If a clause fails, the rest stands.
